Pioneer Power
The Pioneers had a fun-filled, active week when Triple C Camp came together as our theme was "One World"! Our youngest campers played Dragon's Tail Tag, Predators and Prey, Queen Ball, and Drip, Drip, Splash! They also got to meet with our many specialists and work on many exciting projects and activities. In DIONNE'S ARTS & CRAFTS group they made Kiwi Pies, Koala Kangaroos, and Tangiushaw Art (a New Zealand monster). At the PETTING ZOO with MARION the Pioneers made Leaf Rubbings, Imaginary Animals, and got to view lots of pictures from her native home of Tasmania, Australia. The Pioneers also went on lots of fun adventures with their groups including going on Salamander Hunts, Nature Hikes, and Fort Building. Our spirited Pioneers are greatly looking forward to next week, when our theme is "Summer Safari"!
The Trailblazers had quite an incredible week when all of Triple C came together for our "One World" theme. The energetic Trailblazers were very busy as they made Sock Puppets, built Forts, and hiked Kinsers Climb. During our eventful Trailblazer Choice, when our Trailblazers get to CHOOSE what activities they would like to participate in, they got to go between the POOL with DONNA, JEN, and MAGGIE, DRAMA with ASHLEY, ART with DIONNE, PETTING ZOO with Marion, 3RD GRADE CLIMBING CHALLENGE with HANK, SPORTS & GAMES with ADAM, and a special activity planned by our "EDGE" campers CARTER and ANNA. In addition, our Trailblazers kept cool by having extra swim time at the POOL, and going down our Slip N' Slide. The Trailblazers sure know how to have a good time and they can't wait till next week when our theme is "Summer Safari".
The lively Explorers had a tremendous week, as the theme was "One World". Our ART & DRAMA group led by LESLIE and J.R. led their campers in many fun activities that included a Hieroglyphic Writing Studio, Igani African Tribe Stolls, and lots of skit rehearsals. SPORTS & GAMES had a very special week when they had the opportunity to travel to the Charlottesville YMCA for a friendly basketball game against their campers. It was great fun for all, and a terrific chance to meet with another camp, and sports loving kids! GREAT OUTDOORS had an awesome week as they were out and about. They had the opportunity to learn Archery safety techniques and considerations, went on a Mohawk Walk and the Ropes Course, and went on a Tree ID hike through our many Forest Trails. They also worked on soccer drills and went on a Salamander Hunt. COLT CAMP also had a fun-filled week down at the Barn. Colt Campers learned about bathing as well as trimming manes and tails. In the ring everyone worked to improve their seat and position by working with no stirrups and riding bareback! All of the Explorers can't wait till next week when the theme is "Summer Safari".
Teen
Scene on Tour The Teen Scene had an awesome week, both in and out of camp, as their Triple C bus toured town to see the sites of Charlottesville. When the Teen Scene was in camp they had a chance to take a quick dip in the pool to cool off, participated in our CHALLENGE COURSE with Hank, hiked the infamous Kinsers Climb, and went HORSEBACK RIDING. On Tuesday they started their out of camp adventure by touring the Pepsi Plant and then cooling off at Washington Park Pool. Wednesday they participated in Community Service at McIntire Recycling Center, Winter Haven, and to Parks and Rec. After their hard work they went to Chris Greene Lake for lunch, swimming, hiking, and volleyball. Thursday took the Teen Scene to a fun-filled day at Grand Caverns. They got a personal tour of the Caverns, and then had an opportunity to splash around in the swimming hold. Overall it was an amazing week, and the Teen Scene can't wait till next week when the theme is "Summer Safari".
"THE
EDGE" This week "The EDGE" campers learned mass quantities of new games. ANNA led Mouse Trap and Capture the Friend with Trailblazer Girls 2, while CARTER led the wild animal noise game and Cyclops tag with the Pioneer K/1 boys group. ANNA and CARTER also led Arts & Crafts activities. CARTER led sand art with the Trailblazer Girls 2, and ANNA led flag making with the Trailblazer Girls 3. "The EDGE" campers had lots of fun with HANK on the eagle walk as they tackled it blindfolded. Trailblazer Choice Time was a barrel of fun as we led fruit bowl, tunnel tag, TV tag, 4-corners, catch or flinch, and octopus. At the beginning of the week "The EDGE" campers planned an exciting field trip to Luray Caverns for Friday. They can't wait till next week when our theme is "Summer Safari"!
