Pioneer Power
The Pioneers sailed the seas of Triple C Camp this week as they explored new wet worlds. The Pioneers kept cool with games like Drip, Drip, Splash, On the Ship Deck, Slip & Slide Time and many more. DIONNE'S ARTS & CRAFTS projects allowed the Pioneers to create their own Tropical Fish, Design Cruise Ships, and make shell collages. MARION, our ANIMAL SPECIALIST, taught all about sea life, underwater creatures, and our sea friends. In NATURE with CATHY, The Pioneers worked with shells, learning the types and meanings of the turns and twists! It is all so fascinating. Next week the Pioneers will glamour up Hollywood Style for Lights, Camera, Action!
The Trailblazers cruised through Triple C Camp on a Caribbean Cruise as they discovered plenty of ways to get wet! They splished and splashed on the Slip N' Slide, played Water Relays, and of course swam like fishes in the Pool. In NATURE with CATHY, the Trailblazers made leaf Sea Creatures and went on a Crayfish Hunting expedition. ADAM'S SPORTS AND GAMES activities included Volleyball, Archery, and Floor Hockey. In DRAMA with ASHLEY, they participated in a Hula Relay and sang Hawaiian Songs. Overall, the Trailblazers had a busy, fun-filled, tropical week! They are really looking forward to next week when they strike a pose for Lights, Camera, Action!
The Explorers were out and about on a Caribbean Cruise this week at Triple C Camp. The SPORTS AND GAMES groups learned how to run Football plays, play Ultimate Frisbee, and Croquette. They also played Frisbee Golf, Handball, and Capture the Flag. The ART AND DRAMA campers designed Sailboats and then had a Sailboat Race at the Pool. They also spent the week preparing for their All Camp skit, constructed Palm Trees, and played Statues and Smiles. The GREAT OUTDOORS braved Kinser's Climb, played water balloon games, made Colored Sand bottles, and they played Kangaroo Tag with Hula Hoops! Those Explorers were all over the place staying very active! The COLT CAMPERS were also very busy trotting on the Caribbean Cruise. The beginners learned about horse safety, mounting and dismounting safely, and sitting in the saddle correctly. The intermediate group worked on trotting and balancing correctly, while the advanced group worked on tacking, and cantering! The Colt Campers really learned a lot this week and they can't wait for next week when they're in the spotlight. Lights, Camera, Action!
Teen
Scene on Tour The Teen Scene had an awesome week touring in their own Caribbean Cruise Bus! On Monday and Friday they had lots of choices: they went to the PETTING ZOO with MARION, ARTS AND CRAFTS with DIONNE, FREE SWIM at the POOL, and DRAMA with ASHLEY! Their travels throughout the week were really exceptional; they had the opportunity to visit an EMU FARM! On Wednesday morning they participated in community service at the Rivanna Trails. There they will help to maintain the Trail, discover the history of the Trail, and learn about ways the community can help to preserve our scenic areas. Thursday was spent at SHENANDOAH ACRES! They played Water Volleyball, Horseshoes, and went down lots of water slides! Friday brought them back to camp where they again spent time with the specialists (made their personal choices) and spent lots of time at the pool. Many campers chose the adventure of the CHALLENGE COURSE and climbed to the summit of the Tower and Zip down the Zipline with HANK. The Teen Scene had a fun-filled week and can't wait till next week when they the bus changes to the Triple C Hollywood Tour Bus and yell "Lights, Camera, Action"!
"THE
EDGE" "The EDGE" had a very productive week on their Caribbean Cruise. This week "The EDGE" campers got to experience first hand all the fun, work, and rewards of being a Triple C Camp counselor as they observed all around camp this week. They learned new games, and how to teach games both old and new. After observing lots of exciting activities in the Pioneer, Trailblazer, and Explorer groups "The EDGE" campers, TOM and SAMANTHA created new and fun programming ideas to incorporate into the campers days. JESSIE, HERMES and LUCAS began filling their notebooks with ideas to incorporate in the upcoming week. Friday the group headed to town to enjoy a field trip, they researched, planned and carried out. Off they went to the ICE PARK, followed by a picnic lunch and then swimming at Washington Park Pool. "The EDGE" campers also swam, hiked, climbed, and enjoyed all the fun aspects of Triple C Camp. The campers are excited to learn more about being counselors and planning activities next week during LIGHTS, CAMERS, ACTION!
