Pioneer Power
The PIONEERS were busy as bees during SKY'S THE LIMIT this week at TRIPLE C. The boys made paper airplanes, while the girls were playing musical statues. They learned to play Guard the Gate with ADAM at Sports and Games. Everyone fed the sheep with MARION at the petting zoo. After several rounds of Smaug's Jewels with HANK at the Challenge Course everyone headed to the pool to splash around with DONNA JEN, JENNIFER, AND MAGGIE. The damp weather did not slow things down at Triple C Camp! The Pioneers now look forward to the next week of camp with all the fun and excitement of FRONTIER DAYS.
The Trailblazers tried a little bit of everything during
SKY'S THE LIMIT week. Some new games were learned including
Trainwreck, Frog on a Lily Pad, Heads or Tails, 500, and
Estafette. During Trailblazer Choice Activity Time on Wednesday,
the campers chose to participate in activities including
climbing the wall with HANK, visiting the petting zoo with
MARION, and playing dodgeball and elbow tag with BRAD, JILL,
and "THE EDGE" campers. Several groups made paper
mache' projects, and everyone got to make collages with
DIONNE at Arts & Crafts. All the specialists had new
and exciting activities planned including soccer and cricket
with ADAM, Director with ASHLEY, and swimming lessons at
the pool with DONNA, JEN, JENNIFER, and MAGGIE. The Trailblazers
are now preparing for the adventures of FRONTIER DAYS!
Sky was the limit this week as the Explorers were around camp working on soccer skills, baseball skills, and playing predator and prey in the SPORTS & GAMES group. They also loved learning Lacrosse skills from RICHARD and STEVE, as JESSIE and M.B. led them all over camp on a scavenger hunt. The GREAT OUTDOORS campers hiked Kinsers' Climb and learned about fire safety, which was very useful during their cookout and canoeing Wednesday at Walnut Creek. They finished up the week with a scavenger hunt and a lesson in archery. Making sit-upons, tie dye, and loads of fun was what was in store for the ART & DRAMA campers this week with their counselors LESLIE AND EMILY. The COLT CAMPERS learned a lot at the barn. Their activities included how to tack up the horse, clean their tack, as well as walking across the ring. The week concluded with a bareback lesson. You know those Colt Campers are eagerly awaiting next week and FRONTIER DAYS.
WOW!
What a week! Teen Scene began and ended the week with choice
activities which included Sports and Games, Drama, and a
visit with the Animals. They also had the opportunity to
experience elements of the Challenge Course. Tuesday, Wednesday,
and Thursday, Teen Scene were out and about Charlottesville
this week. The first stop made this week was at McCormick
Observatory. There we had demonstrations on how the giant
telescope worked, we even got to touch meteorites (real
ones that had come from Outer Space!) After searching the
stars we headed under water to FINDING NEMO. Wednesday m
morning community service was exciting as we beautified
the Skate Park, and sorted at McIntire Recycling Center,
then we cooled off in the lake at Walnut Creek. Whilst at
Walnut Creek we learned CANOEING with JASON. Thursday saw
the TEEN SCENE head to the DOWNTOWN MALL in Charlottesville
where everyone participated in a scavenger hunt, after that
we CHILLED OUT and skated at the ICE PARK. What a week!
So much fun packed in 5 days!! But we can top that next
week!
