GOOD MORNING
TRIPLE C!

Have you heard about the great summer theme weeks planned for this year? Check this out…

This week was Natural Wonders. Another amazing week has flown by! And we mean flown, as we learned about all types of birds, creatures, natural phenomenon, landmarks and the seven wonders of the world. We had so much fun!

Our week ended with an ALL CAMP CARNIVAL. Campers were able to try all types of games sponsored by each of the different cabin groups. There were: Cake walks, sponge throws, Bean Bag tosses, obstacle courses, Applesauce eating races and so much more… Great fun was had by all.

Theme weeks for 2003:

BUBBLES GALORE

Once Upon a Time...
There were lots of lovable creatures at a camp known as Triple C! These lovable creatures - an iguana, bunnies, horses, lambs, a goat, pet rats, gerbils, and a tarantula - had a great summer at camp being spoiled and cuddled. But once camp ended the animals were sad and lonely because all the children had gone... How can this story end happily ever after??? Your family can be a foster family for the non-camp season!! Call the camp office TODAY to be a Pet Foster Family! Thanks.

Pioneer Power

What a week! The Pioneers were able to keep busy celebrating the Earth's Natural Wonders, with lots of fun activities planned by their counselors and the fabulous specialists. MARION, our ANIMAL SPECIALIST, spent time with the Pioneers at the Petting Zoo feeding all of our goats, sheep, chickens and our pig. With ADAM, our SPORTS SPECIALIST, the future Tiger Woods practiced their putting skills on the camp's new portable greens. But best of all, the Pioneers got a big surprise: a trip to the movies to see JIMMY NEUTRON BOY GENIUS! The Pioneers are sad there is only one more week of camp, but they still can't wait till next week when Triple C Camp gets ready for MAKING WAVES!

Trailblazers Rock!

The Trailblazers had an AWESOME week! The Trailblazers learned from their counselors and the specialists all about the beautiful sites and sounds of Mother Earth. Their counselors planned lots of fun activities this week including creating Colored Sand Bottles, playing English Cricket, and Drip, Drip, Splash to keep cool. The Trailblazers also participated in our Trailblazer Choice activities on Wednesday morning. They got to choose between lots of different fun activities including creating Lid Pictures Frames with DIONNE in ARTS & CRAFTS, projecting and releasing bows and arrows with ADAM in SPORTS & GAMES, flying on our FLYING SQUIRREL with HANK, and splishing and splashing in the POOL with DONNA, MAGGIE, AND JEN. Also, our second grade groups got a special trip to Walnut Creek to swim and hang out at the beach. The Trailblazers sure know how to have fun, and though our summer is coming toward the end they can't wait till next week when our theme is MAKING WAVES.

Got to Explore...

EMILY AND ART & DRAMA PLAYWRITES

This week, our rising 4th-6th graders had a blast when we celebrated the Earth's Natural Wonders here at Triple C Camp. In ART & DRAMA with EMILY AND JEANINE, our campers got to make Rock Candy, Friendship Bracelets, Leaf Printings, and Hemp Necklaces. In SPORTS & GAMES with RICHARD, M.B., STUART, AND JESSIE the campers were able to show off their sporting prowess while playing Cricket, Flag Football, Netball, Lacrosse, and Frisbee Knockout. The GREAT OUTDOORS this week with PEARCE AND CHRISTY had the opportunity to explore our beautiful Earth with their campers. They hiked Kinser's Climb, made all natural Sugar Crystals, and Planted their own Seeds. In COLT CAMP with LORI, JENNIFER, HOLLY, AND KRISTIN worked with campers on various equestrian skills including how to tack, keep their horses healthy, and of course they spent plenty of time riding in the ring. They also Tie Died and Painted T-Shirts. Our Explorers are multi-talented and know how to use their abilities to have a good time. They know the summer is winding down, but they still can't wait till next week when our theme is MAKING WAVES!

Teen Scene on Tour

ON THE SQUIRREL LINE

The Teen Scene had an awesome week as they went touring in the Triple C Bus around Charlottesville exploring our community's Natural Wonders. At camp on Monday and Friday they got to choose between lots of different activities including SWIMMING at the POOL, spending time with CATHY our NATURE SPECIALIST, feeding the Animals at the Petting Zoo with MARION our ANIMAL SPECIALIST, going on a Nature Hike, playing Frisbee Golf, or Shooting some Hoops. The Teen Scene had a really great time though when they went out and about in Charlottesville. On Tuesday they went to the movies to see ICE AGE and from there went to Washington Park Pool to cool off. On Wednesday they gave their time to community by volunteering at McIntire Recycling Center, the Colonnades, and Parks and Rec. They went to Walnut Creek for lunch, swimming, hiking, and canoeing. On Thursday they had a real treat as they went to Morefield Gem Mines. There they dug for their own natural treasures and received information on the history of the Mines. The Teen Scene sure had a good week, and though they know they only have one more week touring on their bus, they can't wait till next week when our theme is MAKING WAVES. Watch out James River!

"THE EDGE"

MORGAN, BROOKE, LUCAS AND LYDIA PRESENT THE TRIPLE C AWARDS

This week "The EDGE" celebrated Triple C's Natural Wonders by hosting the 2nd Annual CCC Awards!!! "The EDGE," consisting of Carter, Sam, Jessica and Lucas worked with their counselor LESLIE to celebrate the dynamite Counselors at Triple C Camp by creating this surprise presentation, designing the invitations and awards, getting campers to vote, organizing camper presenters, and building a cool 3-D background where the awards were announced. Categories for the counselor awards included "Best Smile," "Funniest," Most Athletic Male and Female Counselors," "Best Co-Counselors," "Best Specialist," " and "Coolest Male and Female Counselors." They also orchestrated music for each award, the introduction of the awards and the closure of the program. This huge project was mastered beautifully by the fierce-em four-some. Along with the awards, "The Edge" campers played field games and soccer with the Trailblazers during Trailblazer Choice, went salamander hunting at the base of Kinser's Climb, swam in the pool daily, and organized a water gurgling booth during Friday's All Camp Carnival. This is "The EDGE"'s last week and what a cool way to end the summer by celebrating the staff that they have used as their role models all summer!!!
