Pioneer Power! (K-1st Grades)

MARIE AND ADAM SHOW THEIR YANKEE SPIRIT

The PIONEERS were in full sports mode as the week was JOCK ROCK. They were all over camp as they played water games and baseball with ADAM at Sports and Games. They learned teambuilding activities on the challenge course with KATY MAC, and got to make their favorite team's flag at Art & Drama with KAREN. They had lots of fun as they cooled of at the pool with MERRYL, EMILY & LAURIE. In Nature, with HEATHER, the Pioneers learned about the wildlife animals as she taught them about Bats and read Stellaluna, while at ANIMALS with MILDRED they got to play with the sheep, goats, and Leo the rabbit. The Pioneers now look forward to next week and the theme of UNDER THE BIG TOP.

Trailblazers Rock! (2nd-3rd Grades)

HITTING THE FILLING STATION FOR H2O

The Trailblazers were supreme athletes this week as they caught, threw, passed, kicked and ran their way through JOCK ROCK. All the groups played lots of water games as they tried to stay cool from the heat. On Tuesday two of the groups got the opportunity to have an excursion and go to the movies. Choice Activities this week included: climbing the wall with KATY MAC, soccer with ADAM, playing with Trixie the rabbit and her new babies with MILDRED, making flags of their favorite teams with KAREN at arts and crafts, and skits for Drama with LESLIE, not to mention pool time with MERRYL, EMILY and LAURIE, as well as gliding down the slip and slide, field games and more. Great fun was had by all!! Another week down and the Trailblazers are now preparing for next week and the theme of UNDER THE BIG TOP.

ANYA AND ERYN PLAY KNOCKOUT
WITH ADAM
This week's JOCK ROCK was a huge week for our Explorers as they brushed up on their sports skills. The SPORTS & GAMES CAMPERS were in their own element as they ran all over camp and exhausted themselves by playing a wide range of sports including: soccer, basketball, floor hockey, lacrosse, netball, football as well many other great sports. GREAT OUTDOORS CAMPERS went to Walnut Creek on Wednesday and had a great time, and back at camp they learned how to use the skills in everyday life by having a chair building competition, making wind chimes and weaving sticks. The COLT CAMPERS continued to learn new skills on how to handle the horses. Whether it was learning how to position their seats while riding, how to groom the horses correctly, and to feed the horses. Our ART & DRAMA CAMPERS got into the spirit of things for the week by integrating the theme of JOCK ROCK into their afternoon performances at round up. The EXPLORERS are gearing up for next week's theme and getting ready to clown around with UNDER THE BIG TOP.

Teen Scene on Tour
(6th-8th Grades)

Week Eight arrived and we were ready for JOCK ROCK! Monday and Friday?s in camp choice activities included teambuilding games such as Nuclear Reactor and Klingon Tag while on the Challenge Course with KATY MAC. Other choices were: Arts & Crafts, Bat Study with HEATHER in Nature; Ultimate Frisbee, Archery and Kickball with ADAM, the Art of Skit creation with LELSIE in Drama and Sheep and Rat fun with MILDRED. Tuesday we headed to the Cinema to see Joe Somebody, and then afterwards went to Charlottesville?s Ice Park for a cool and energetic experience. On Wednesday morning, campers did community service at Winter Haven Retirement Home, Westminister Nursing Home, and Parks & Rec. In the afternoon Washington Park Pool provided fun on the reconstructed slides! Thursday took us to the Science Museum of Virginia where we experienced the museum and the feature film at the IMAX Theater: Thrill Ride. Next week's UNDER THE BIG TOP, will keep our teen's on the move as they continue on more adventures in the community!

THE EDGE (9th-10th Grades)

JESSIE THE FLYING SQUIRREL
This week The Edge compiled a journal of games and activities that they have learned over the last eight weeks. Ideas were gathered from each other and from the group counselors that they have been mentoring with. Together they made a list of over 125 games to be added to the journal for future counselors and campers in The Edge to use as a reference. Their planning skills shone during Trailblazer Choice activity time as THE EDGE campers lead water games, doctors and soldiers, capture the flag, and a wildlife scavenger hunt. Thursday they accompanied the Teen Scene campers to the Richmond Science Museum for a fun day. They showed their leadership and coaching abilities by helping with the all-camp running of Kinser's Climb. We closed out Friday with an afternoon of climbing and zipping on Charlottesville's Challenge Course here at Triple C Camp.
