| THE TORNADOS HANG THEIR BANNER AT THE ENTRANCE TO THEIR FORT |
The Pioneers were on the move this week as they got into the Luau mode. Teambuilding games that involved water and trust were quite the Challenge at the Course with KATY MAC. At Sports and Games ADAM taught the gentle camp version of Dodge ball, MILDRED helped the campers learn about our Goats and Trixie, the Rabbit (a proud new mama to three). Swim lessons and pool games were fun and allowed our swimmers to continue to progress in their skill levels. In Arts & Crafts with Karen the Pioneers made Hawaiian shirts, Scenic Landscapes, Palm Trees and decorated Pineapple cut outs. In Nature with HEATHER, music of the islands surrounded the campers as they made their own instruments. Another week has floated by... and we are ready for a rocking good time... next week #8 we JOCK ROCK!
Trailblazers Rock! (2nd-3rd Grades)
 |
| LAUREN, LATIEFAH, AND THE TRAILBLAZER GIRLS |
The Trailblazers were hula dancin' their way through our LET'S LUAU week with style. From a trip to the theater to a cook out at Walnut Creek every Trailblazer cabin group experienced an excursion. Choice Activities this week included: The Flying Squirrel with KATY MAC, volleyball with ADAM, Playing with Baseball and Diamond the pet Rats under the guidance of MILDRED, creating grass skirts and leis in Arts and Crafts with KAREN, and learning how to be "extras" in the on going Drama of VOLCANO ISLAND with LESLIE, not to mention pool time, gliding on the slip and slide, field games and more. The fun was on going!! The Trailblazers are now ready to pump up the jam, and blaze into next week's JOCK ROCK! Who is your favorite athlete? Or favorite team? Show us on WEDNESDAY!

| IVY ASTRIDE SHADOW |
TRIPLE C's LET'S LUAU week was a huge blast for our Explorer campers! The COLT CAMPERS continued to learn new skills on how to handle horses. Whether it was learning how to perfect their seats while riding, how to properly groom a horse, or the best way to feed horses, the COLT CAMPERS excelled in their lessons. GREAT OUTDOORS were getting their hands messy, making candles, hemp necklaces, beads, and planting flowers. The campers also got in the theme of the week by doing the limbo and making friendship t-shirts. ART & DRAMA was in the spirit of things by making Flower Leis, Paper-Mache Tiki Masks, and Pina Coladas. ART & DRAMA also performed a week long, ongoing skit, called Volcano Island. SPORTS & GAMES geared up for our week by getting messy and exhausting themselves with all sorts of games. "Drip, drip, splash!", "Queenball", "Crab Soccer", and "Flood' were a few of the games that our campers got into. Scavenger Hunts were also an integral part of our week, with the campers in search of Hawaiian themed objects. The SPORTS & GAMES, as well as the rest of our EXPLORERS can hardly wait for next week's JOCK ROCK!
Teen Scene on Tour (6th-8th Grades)
 |
| MAKING FRUIT SHISKABOBS |
Another great week for the adventurous Teen Scene! On Monday they worked on teambuilding playing "Thumbs Bums" with KATY MAC, soccer with ADAM and hanging out in the Tipi with HEATHER. Monday afternoon the temperatures taunted the Teen Scene toward the pool. A few let their love of Horses draw them to the barn for riding with LANCE and CORINNA. The Teen Scene headed out on Tuesday for a trip to CHRIS GREENE LAKE for fun, swimming and canoeing. On Wednesday morning, campers did community service at The Colonades, Westminster Canterbury and Starr Hill Park. After hours of service...Washington Park Pool was very refreshing. Thursday our campers went to Moorefield Mines. This is an amazing place where they got to learn about minerals, stones and precious gems, a true panning experience. Next week we get into shape with JOCK ROCK WEEK!
THE EDGE (9th-10th Grades)
 |
| JESSIE GETS A LAST MINUTE SAFETY CHECK FROM KATY |
Campers were introduced to life at the Barn this week as they learned Equine Management! Did you know it could be so much fun working so hard? After learning all the safety procedures, tack parts and general care for the horses, our Edge campers were able to assist KATY and LANCE with lead line pony rides for our Pioneers and Trailblazers. Some of THE EDGE campers tried their hand in the carts with GHOSTBUSTER and MANNY, the Miniature Horses. Learning to be around the horses enlightened the campers to dealing with elements which they cannot always control. On Thursday THE EDGE campers ventured to Walnut Creek to assist the Trailblazers on their field trip. They helped cook hotdogs on the grill, and had the chance to canoe and swim. Friday's evaluation time of the week allows THE EDGE campers time to reflect and learn from their weekly experiences. Many of our EDGE campers are beginning to understand just how tough it must be to be to raise children in a positive manner. Next week we JAM ON! JOCK ROCK STYLE!!
