GREAT WEEK TRIPLE C!!!!!

The light rain showers were very welcome as we celebrated
GO ENVIRO!
The grass, the trees, and the decrease in temperature that followed the liquid sunshine DELIGHTED all! Friday's all camp had fun & exciting stations: the recycle relay, apple races, Evolution, Streams & Rivers and Face Painting. PATTY from the SPCA brought special visitors for us to meet. THANKS PATTY! It was a great week. Next week...
Let's Luau

Theme weeks for 2002:
Swimming, swimming, in the swimming pool!
When days are hot and when days are cold in the swimming pool. Front stroke, back stroke, fancy diving too, wouldn't you love it if there was nothing else to do?

After camp swim lessons are a great way to advance stroke development and have fun.

GREAT CLASSROOM PETS!!

Pioneer Power! (K-1st Grades)

RICHARD AND WILL
COOKING OUT

The Pioneers were Nutty about Nature this week! The Pioneer boys enjoyed learning about campfire safety, then making some delectable treats! The Pioneer girls took a different approach to their delectable treats-instead of a hot campfire, they cooled off with fruit smoothies! The Pioneers conquered Kinser's climb, got down 'n dirty exploring for creatures, and completing a camo-hunt with HEATHER, the Triple C Nature Specialist. The pool was a big hit for the pioneers-in addition to continuing their swimming skills, campers learned some water games from MERRYL, DEAN, and EMILY.

Trailblazers Rock! (2nd-3rd Grades)

HEATHER GIVES A PLANT LESSON IN THE TENT

What a week for the Trailblazers! The heat didn't stop them from exploring the grounds of Triple C. Everything from repairing their forts, to painting pet rocks (which they found hiking Kinser's Climb), to pine cone bird feeders, the Trailblazers kept busy. The ladies with ALEXIS and LATIEFAH kept cool this week playing games like Drip, Drip, Splash, and flying down the Slip 'n Slide. TAMMY and RACHEL beautified their girls with Tie Dyed T-shirts, fingernail painting, and jewelry making. The Trailblazer boys had an exciting Capture the Flag challenge on Friday morning. The guys preferred focusing their week on learning new nature games like quick frozen critters, and improving their athletic skills in badminton, volleyball, soccer, baseball, kickball, and much, much more. It's hard to believe the week has come to an end already. Who knows what next week will bring the Trailblazers as they prepare for the Luau...

Got to Explore…(4th-6th Grades)

KATIE AND MICHELLE MAKE
BIRD HOUSES
COLT CAMPERS continued to build on their unique skills this week as they learned about how the environment can effect horses, and how terrain must be evaluated before trail riding as they hiked Kinser's Climb. The GREAT OUTDOORS campers turned our Nature Center into a RAIN FOREST with green lights, artwork, and streamer water falls. It was quite the sight. The Weekly cookout taught our campers how to cook spaghetti, toast garlic bread and s'mores. Full Tummies! The ART & DRAMA campers made birdhouses as they were in the GO ENVIRO mode. The environmentally conscious skits were very educational and helped us all be reminded of ways to protect our surroundings and conserve nature. The SPORTS & GAMES campers were all over the camp as they pitched, served, shot and scored!! Their sportsperson skills were in line as they made friends and learned new sporting skills. The new Lacrosse equipment is a great hit! All the explorers are really looking forward to the festivities of next week as we LUAU!

SARAH AND LESLIE GET CREATIVE SKIT NIGHT

Teen Scene on Tour
(6th-8th Grades)

This week we spent time getting back to nature! On Monday, campers got a chance to spend time with MILDRED and the animals, hike Kinser's Climb with HEATHER, play Lacrosse and Volleyball with ADAM, brave the Challenge Course with KATY MAC and chill with their counselors at the POOL.

The Teen Scene's out of camp adventure began on Tuesday with a trip to Chiles Peach Patch in Crozet. Campers picked a plethora of peaches, then headed to Mint Springs for an afternoon hike. On Wednesday morning, campers helped beautify Charlottesville with the assistance of the crew at Parks and Rec., and organized at the McIntire Recycling Center. After their hard work, they ventured over to Kegler's for a bowling extravaganza. On Thursday, the Teen Scene enjoyed all that Walnut Creek had to offer: canoeing, hiking, swimming and communing with nature.

Back in camp, Friday's choice activities dazzled the teen scene as they rode, swam, soared on the ropes course and so much more…

THE EDGE (9th-10th Grades)

This week "The Edge" campers worked toward their Water Safety Instructor Aid certification at the pool with MERRYL. They lead activities for TRAILBLAZER CHOICE ACTIVITIES TIME including water games, a bubble gum scavenger hunt, doctors and soldiers, and capture the friend. In addition they planned field trips to Shenandoah Acres, ACAC water facilities, and the Charlottesville Ice Park, one of which they will be taking on Friday. As a group they spent time on the challenge course trying out the Eagle Walk and the Cat Walk. All week they helped lead activities with the Pioneer and Trailblazer groups, as well as Sports and Games. They are looking forward to the excitement of next week and LET'S LUAU.
