Pioneer Power! (K-1st Grades)

PIONEER GIRLS CREATE MUMMIES

It was DISCO MANIA this week and our PIONEERS were in the midst of all the activities, moovin' & groovin' through everything that was in front of them. Our Pioneer Boys highlights of the week included fort building, playing capture the flag, cruisin' down the slip n' slide, and of course daily swim lessons and free swim are always a big hit. The Pioneer girls had a dancin' good time playing freeze dance, doing the macarena, chaling up our basketball court, and even had MUMMY RACES. Not Mommy, but Mummys...the girls were covered in toilet paper and were judged for most authentic looking Mummy. Can't wait till next week when we GO ENVIRO!

Trailblazers Rock! (2nd-3rd Grades)

PEARCE, ALBERT, AND THE
TRAILBLAZER BOYS PLAY BLOB TAG

Wow! What a week for our Trailblazers. Campers always enjoy this year's newest event: CHOICE ACTIVITIES! Rising 2nd and 3rd graders got to choose their destiny Wednesday morning with choices such as performing plays/skits with LESLIE, Sports with STU-E-OHH AHH AHH, the Edge Campers gave Nature Activities as an option, swimming in our pools, and going on the "Flying Squirrel" with KATY MAC!
Other highlights include campers playing capture the flag, around the world, elbow and freeze tag, climbing KINSER'S CLIMB, building forts, and continuing in the DISCO fashion with dance lessons, creative 70's arts & crafts and making memories to last a life time!!
Next week the trailblazers will be all about the environment as we GO ENVIRO

Got to Explore…(4th-6th Grades)

COACH KENDALL SHARES STRATEGIES WITH THE GIRLS BBALL TEAM!
The explorations this week lead our Great Outdoors, Sports & Games, Art & Drama and some of the Colt Campers to Sutherland Middle School! What were they doing there??? They were learning how to compete appropriately as we played three games with the YMCA campers. We had girls BBall, Boys BBall, and Coed Soccer. The Triple C Campers were great examples of Sportsmanship and Spirit as they cheered their peers on to Victory.
Triple C won two of the three events.

Girls Bball Triple C 15 YMCA 20
Boys Bball Triple C 33 YMCA 25 and
Coed Soccer Triple C 2 YMCA 1

Great job campers and counselors!!

During the week all the explorers had the chance to learn more about the venues of their choice and expand their horizons. The Colt Campers really enjoyed the decrease in temperature as they continued to develop their riding skills in the ring and on the trails.

TEEN SCENE GIRLS GET ARTISITIC ON DREW

Disco Mania was everywhere! On Monday campers got a chance to Boogie Oogie Oogie on the Challenge Course with KATY MAC, try out the new Tipi with HEATHER, sport it up with ADAM at Softball, cool off in the pools and much more. The Teen Scene's out of camp adventure began on Tuesday with a trip to the Theater, for the showing of Dr. DooLittle 2 or Rugrats in Paris. Then off to the Charlottesville Ice Park for a chilling good time. On Wednesdaymorning, campers did community service at Charlottesville Parks and Rec, Winter Haven Retirement Home and Colonades Nursing Home. Wed. afternoon we headed to Washington Pool to get cool.

Thursday it was off to Shenandoah acres for fun on the lake, down the slides and plummeting from the jumping decks. There was Beach volleyball, arcade games, shade and shelters. Friday in camp we had the chance to ride horses, hike Kinser's Climb, try the Challenge Course Multi Vine, swim, play and do arts & crafts. SO MANY CHOICES.

Next week...we get earth and GO ENVIRO!! Where that leads us you will have to be here to know...

THE EDGE (9th-10th Grades)

THE EDGE CAMPERS LEARN CPR
And just when the THE EDGE campers thought school and books were behind them - they hit the book this week to become certified in American Red Cross CPR and First Aid. After learning the skills, demonstrating their skills and passing written tests they will receive certification in Adult, Infant, and Child CPR as well as First Aid. But wait, there is more. These campers have been learning experientially as they plan and develop games and activities for the younger campers to try out, they are great at teaching new songs, and boy can they boogie as they help weekly to make our All Camp activities successful. Great work gang: CHELSEA, JESSIE, SHAWNA, TYKARA, BRYAN, JEREMY, JUSTIN and ROSSER! Next week they hit the water as they attempt to increase their certification portfolios!
