HEROES ARE EVERYWHERE
GOOD MORNING TRIPLE C!!!!

We saluted our HEROS near and far this week! From Astronauts to Zoo Keepers. We thought about, learned about and appreciated all that people (and animals) do for us. Special Thanks to our visitors from the Albemarle County Police Department and to the Firemen at Charlottesville FD for having the PIONEERS into the safety house.

PIONEERS visit the Fire Safety House at Charlottesville Fire Department

TRIPLE C CAMP's littlest ones had another awesome week as they celebrated their heroes in our HEROES SALUTE week. The PIONEERS had some surprises this week as they took a field trip to the Charlottesville Fire Department and learned how to safely exit a building when there is smoke. All of our PIONEERS got to have fun on the Ponies with LANCE, as well as hang out with KAREN in Arts and Crafts. The boys got rough and tough and bravely hiked KISNER'S CLIMB. The girls, in appreciation for their heroes (like our chefs NATALIE AND ILONA) made thank you notes. All in all the PIONEERS took on the hard task of having fun and conquered it; they?re ready to take on another fabulous week at TRIPLE C!!!

Trailblazers Rock! (2nd-3rd Grades)

TRAILBLAZER BOYS livin' large at the pool

HEROES SALUTE was the theme of this week as the TRAILBLAZERS blazed their way through camp. Like the trailblazers of yesteryear, these guys were out in the woods, building forts, hiking KINSER'S CLIMB, and experiencing Nature with HEATHER. All varieties of games were played, some with the help of ADAM. The pool was also a favorite spot with the heat this week. MERRYL, EMILY, and LAURIE kept watch over our campers in our pools. In honor of our theme this week in our two pools with extra swimming, HERO'S SALUTE, the TRAILBLAZERS had a surprise visit by Charlottesville's own OFFICER SEAN HACKNEY and search and retrieval Canine Officer Doc. Officer Hackney and Doc demonstrated to the TRAILBLAZERS what it takes for a dog to be trained in searches, and that dogs too can heroes. TRAILBLAZERS are pumped for next week, as We Go Red White & Blue!

K-9 OFFICER DOC & HIS PARTNER OFFICER HACKNEY demonstrated their tracking abilities for our campers RICHARD, STU-E OOH AHH AHH and THE TRAILBLAZER BOYS 2 trying out the new lacrosse equipment

LISA explains the tye-dye process
GREAT OUTDOORS campers learned the skills of HEROES this week as they learned Orienteering, perform Rescue Carries, build forts, create and break secret codes (using materials found in the outdoors), hike safely and care for the world around us. They even cooked a chicken dinner, sautéed veggies and had corn bread! YES Sautéed veggies; everything tastes better over a campfire! SPORTS & GAMES campers were on the move as they trained like the athletes they admire. Cross CountryRunning, Volleyball, Soccer, and sporting our new LACROSSE gear were only a few of the fun and sporting things done this week. COLT CAMPERS traveled in time to the WILD,WILD WEST and rode like the heroes of yesteryear. Riding in the carts with the minis, bareback in the ring or performing a skit for all of camp (about the peace keepers and bad guys of days old) the COLT CAMP equestrians had a blast. ART & DRAMA campers dazzled us with their brilliant performing skills on a regular basis this week. Highlighting the week with a dance to BOOGIE WOOGIE BUGLE BOY! This creative group also made bulletin boards to post their clippings and hang their awards. GREAT WEEK explorers; someday these campers will be heroes to the next generations.

Teen Scene on Tour
(6th-8th Grades)

TEEN SCENE in Arts and Crafts

The TEEN SCENE experienced another great week traveling to new places and creating fun times for themselves. Monday and Friday, our Teens were at camp, choosing among the various activities that KATY MAC, ADAM, HEATHER, and KAREN had planned for them. They also got to hang out with MERRYL and the rest of the pool staff, cooling off in the heat. On Tuesday the TEEN SCENE went off to the movies to choose between seeing MouseHunt or Charlie Brown. Afterwards they went on a picnic and then on to Washington Park Pool sliding down water slides. Wednesday was spent in community service, assisting the heroes of families at Winter Haven Retirement Home, Colonnades Nursing Home, and also helping to beautify the community with the help of Parks & Rec. The afternoon on Wednesday was spent in fun at Walnut Creek Park where they had some fun in the sun. On Thursday the TEEN SCENE got wet and wild, tubing down the James River. Trampling over all the fun planned for our HEROES SALUTE, the TEEN SCENE is ready for next week's GRAND OL' FLAG!

THE EDGE (9th-10th Grades)

This week in The Edge the campers focused on their leadership skills, and learned many new games. CHELSEA PICINICH lead the ART & DRAMA campers in a presentation of the song Bazooka Bubble Gum. BRYAN DOTSON and TRAILBLAZER BOYS 2 worked on their lacrosse skills. JUSTIN TRUE and the SPORTS & GAMES specialist ADAM THOMAS played many exciting rounds of sponge dodge ball. TYKARA EVANS learned to drive the pony carts with the COLT CAMPERS. DANIEL ANGELL and the COLT CAMPERS worked on an exciting skit for roundup. As a group they had fun at the pool and on the challenge course. They are looking forward to next week!!
