Pioneer Power! (K-1st Grades)

Our smallest fishes had a great wet and watery week. From searching the creeks with HEATHER, in nature, to scowering the seas for treasure at the Challenge Course with KATY the action was ongoing. Sea Horses, Jelly Fish, and Octopi were painted, glittered and seashell encrusted as KAREN had lots of fun at Arts & Crafts. Drama with LESLIE filled the air bubbles with new songs and dances about Little green frogs and Gonk Gonk Frogs, make sure to ask for a solo at home!! Water balloons were popular this week as well as Splish, Splish, Splash Games. Our Pioneers even had the chance to try out an UNDER THE SEA bubble as they played and worked together with ADAM our Sports Specialist and our colorful parachute. We had a super Pioneer week and can't wait to see you on Monday!

Seahorses and Starfish filled the Backpacks of the Trailblazers this week as they learned the many amazing wonders of how to have fun UNDER THE SEA.

Learning how to snorkel thanks to CHIP and LISA from DIVE CONNECTIONS, creating sea creatures in the Arts and Crafts studio, and working up a sweat playing "Whales and Sharks" the Trailblazers were Movin' and Groovin' their way all through the sea. Also Trailblazers got to blast their way through on the Challenge Course with KATY MAC. The pool, too, was a favorite spot this week, having lessons with MERRYL, EMILY, and LAURIE.

The Trailblazers rocked their Choice Activities getting to choose between the Petting Zoo with DIANA, Nature Hikes with HEATHER, Arts and Crafts projects with KAREN, Drama skits with LESLIE, and different Games with ADAM. Next week we have a HEROES SALUTE.

Got to Explore…(4th-6th Grades)

KELLY shows the COLT CAMPERS
how to saddle SILVER.
Sea Horses...to real horses the Explorers did it all this week. The COLT CAMPERS focused on balance and strength as they continued their lessons at the barn. The ART & DRAMA crew made journals in which to gather their thoughts, dreams, and write their own plays and skits. The SPORTS & GAMES campers were all over the Sea as they played all types of team and individual games, followed the successes of the American Soccer Team in the World Cup games, and enjoyed each others company. The GREAT OUTDOORS campers viewed the waters through the periscopes they made, learned lashing, and enjoyed the amphibians of the Nature Center. At the fantastic cookout the GREAT OUTDOORS campers fired their own fish, chopped their succotash vegetables and enjoyed a healthy meal. The Explorers completed their week at All Camp with water balloon festivities, wet and wild rely races, face painting, crazy songs games and full on FUN! See you all next week!!

Teen Scene on Tour
(6th-8th Grades)

TEEN SCENE learns to scuba.

Wow! Week two is already gone and the Teen Scene is ready! On Monday campers got a chance to visit with the Reptiles with DIANA, play indoor hockey, dodge ball and softball with ADAM, play Streets and Roads, get to know the horses at the Barn, cool off in the pools, and visit the Spider's Web and Chocolate River on the Challenge Course with KATY MAC. The Teen Scene's out of camp adventure began on Tuesday by going aquatic in the cool waters of Chris Green Lake where they swam and canoed. Wednesday was full of great community service. Thursday took the Teen Scene west to the Frontier Cultural Museum in the morning and to Skatetown in the afternoon. Friday the Teen tried SCUBA thanks to the generosity of CHIP and LISA from DIVE CONNECTIONS!! WOW WHAT A WEEK!! SEE YOU NEXT WEEK.

THE EDGE (9th-10th Grades)

UNDER THE SEA week was fun and exciting for "The Edge" campers. They applied the programming skills learned last week to lead activities with the Pioneers, Trailblazers, and Explorers. They each led several songs, taught the groups lots of new games, and lead presentations at round-up. They came together as a group on the challenge course to climb the 35' tower and zip the 500' zip line, as well as climb the multi-vine. In the pool they helped with swimming lessons, and had a chance to try snorkeling. As a reward for a job well done "The Edge" campers, CHELSEA PICINICH , BRYAN DOTSON, BRICE SMITH, and ROSSER WAYLAND planned a field trip for themselves to the Charlottesville Ice Park and downtown mall. They are looking forward to the excitement of next week and HERO'S SALUTE!!
