2001

Greetings from Triple C Camp!

LET’S DO THE TIME WARP YEAH!!!
We flashed through the eras this week as we rock and rolled past the fifties, got groovy in the sixties, flash danced while the eighties passed us by and worm hole traveled into the future. The liquid sunshine did not slow down the action at Triple C Camp!

PIONEER (flower) POWER!

Trusting each other can be difficult when you can't see - the Pioneers learned about it first hand!

Rockin’ Robin, Malts, Shakes, and Root Beer Floats helped our pioneers learn about the great cultural icon items of the decades gone by. Hula Hoops, Poodle Skirts, Records, Grease Lightening and Pet Rocks were morethings that the Pioneers thought would have been funny to see their parents living through.

MICHELLA had the Pioneers making many fun creations in Arts & Crafts: collages, sculptures, chalk, sewing, Martians, and jewelry of the future. JOSH had the campers climbing to the top of the Triple C Camp version of MT. EVEREST, tree hugging and making leaf prints. Drama with LAURA was time filled with the campers going on safari’s, Walking like
Egyptians, playing the Red Ants Game and laughing, laughing, laughing! On the Challenge Course, with MERRYL, the campers learned about Trust as they pretended to be without vision and had to rely on the help of others.

Lots was learned this week as our Pioneers ventured into unknown places.! Next week we will be in TROPICAL PARADISE! COME AND ENJOY WITH US!

EVER EXPLORING...

EMILY D. and HILLARY W. show off their new T-shirts!

The ART and DRAMA campers performed an excellent skit to Grease at round up
on Wednesday. They also got to tie dye shirts, make some awesome love beads
and learn dances from different eras.

Our GREAT OUTDOORS enthusiasts went
on an experiential field trip to Walnut Creek where they got to swim, grill dogs and lick fingers, canoe and try to catch minnows in borrowed buckets. They were all smiling when they got back to camp and singing songs about beans!

The HORSEBACK RIDERS learned more about horses and their care. They
continued to learn how to groom, feed, advance their riding skills, clean
the horses, budget as if they were actual horse owners and on Friday, the equestrians with LORRAINE were gettin’ their jump on in the ring.

SPORTS and GAMES was jam packed with a plethora of games, including soccer, capture the flag, basketball, tag, queen ball, a scavenger hunt, and even a bit o’ yoga. Join us next week as we explore a Tropical Paradise

TRAVELING TEEN SCENERS

ADVENTURE CAMP 2001!

Rising 6th - 10th graders join us for a week of adventure in West Virginia! We will be white water rafting, rock climbing, repelling, hiking, camping, mountain biking and more! No weakest links here! Fun and excitement for all! For more information call camp @ 293-2529 or ask the Teen Scene staff for more information! DON'T MISS THIS ADVENTURE space still available August 20-24!!

Time Warp Week had the Teen Sceners jumpin’ and jivin’ around town. Their first stop was Triple C Camp on Monday for a fun-filled day of swimming, hiking, making crafts, horseback riding, spending time with the animals, and much, much more.

Next stop, Walnut Creek for an outdoor adventure! Hiking, swimming, and canoeing were available for campers that were interested. Wednesday morning, campers started out assisting the community by hanging out with residents at the Winterhaven Retirement Community, landscaping the grounds at Charlottesville High School, and sorting and organizing at the McIntyre Recycling Center.

After a morning of hard work, campers cooled off with an amazing afternoon at Washington Park. Thursday took the campers westward to Staunton. First stop, Skate Town USA, where campers enjoyed roller skating, an old favorite!

Next campers headed to Gypsy Hill Park, were they enjoyed swimming in their pool. The final stop of Time Warp week was again Triple C Camp. This stop included tie-dying t-shirts and colored shoe laces, feeding the animals, and trying out the Catwalk (one of the High Elements on the Challenge Course). The afternoon was spent groovin’ to music of the past at the pool with a certain lifeguard/counselor continually playing that “Buttercup” song from the 50’s. Be sure to smile next week, you’ll be in Tropical Paradise at Triple C Camp!
