2001

Greetings from Triple C Camp!

It has been a wild and wooly week at Triple C Camp! A giant Gorilla moved into the dining hall and Lions, Giraffes, Monkeys, Parrots, Elephants and Tigers ran wild on the camp grounds all week. There were Jungle Scavenger Hunts, Animal Track plaster cast making projects, Mini Safaris and even Flying Squirrels. Jungle creature masks were a hit. It was a great week as the weather was perfect for a Triple C Camp Safari.

We even had a special surprise on Tuesday from BLUE RIDGE BALLOON CO.! All the campers that were in camp had the opportunity to go up in the tethered HOT AIR BALLOON. WOW, what a fun surprise!

Fridays all Camp festivities had the campers searching throughout the Pride Lands as they were on a full scale scavenger hunt searching for hidden Lions, Monkeys, Giraffes, special nature items, live Triple C Creatures such as skinks, salamanders, and slugs. The campers even had to get an autograph from one of the staff members who have actually been in the Jungle or Rain forest.

As we say goodbye to many of you, we would like to thank you for joining us for another fun summer at Triple C Camp.

Yours in Camping, Libby and "H"

P.S. All lost and found will be available for pickup through September 15th! Call or email if you are searching for something!

PIONEERS IN THE PRIDELANDS

The second-grade boys with JAY built an amazing fort!

The Pioneers had an amazing week in the Amazon of Triple C. The KINDERGARTENERS went on a Safari with ANGIE and ROB and found a tiger floating in the Creek. RON, JONATHAN, and the FIRST GRADE BOYS put the finishing touches on their fort, enjoyed the slip 'n slide, and washed the Triple C Camp busses. The FIRST GRADE GIRLS with LILLY and ADRIANNE made binoculars to use when exploring, and put on an amazing Jungle Skit for everyone at Round-Up on Thursday. The 1-2 BOYS transformed into Super Hero's, enjoyed sports & games like Queen ball, Basketball, Floor Hockey, Relay Races, as well as played with the parachute and finished their fort with PAUL and RICHARD. The SECOND GRADE GIRLS were water bugs this week, as they enjoyed the slip 'n slide, lots of time in the pool, Drip, Drip, Splash, and playing with the Miniature Pools. ERIN and ALLISON also helped the girls make Ants on a Log, Animal masks, and a great banner! Those wild SECOND GRADE BOYS with PETER and JAY spent time exploring the grounds of Triple C searching for critters, as well as transforming into monkeys for a relay race, challenging the Second Grade Girls to Queen ball, and having a Tetherball Tournament. Everyone enjoyed going to SPORTS & GAMES with BRAD to attempt to beat Robin Hood at Archery, practice Kickball, and learn the basics of Touch Rugby. MICHELLA had the Pioneers making great Autograph books, and Animal Masks in ARTS & CRAFTS.

We would love to get feedback from all the Pioneers about their favorite activities and counselors from the summer of 2001. Just email us at: fun@tripleccamp.com, or send pictures, letters, or notes via snail mail to the camp address.

EVER EXPLORING...

KACIE, JOSH & TAMIKA handle Jerry the Snake as they get down n' dirty in the Jungle!

In the Jungle, the Mighty Jungle, the Explores searched for bugs. In the Jungle the Mighty Jungle the camouflage was fun! Everyone enjoyed the pool this week, as DOM and HEIDI let those crazy campers swim off some energy! The GREAT OUTDOORS campers with JAMES, SARAH, HANS and LAURA played animal games, like Predators & Prey, and Quick Frozen Critters, as well as built forts, found walking sticks, hunted for bugs, and made plaster tracks. They also enjoyed a yummy cook-out on Wednesday, where they learned about fire building and safety, and had a great time! In ART & DRAMA, campers with KATY and JOHN camouflaged their entire bodies before hiking in the woods, made friendship bracelets, hair wraps, and gimp. They also learned a jungle dance, tie-dyed T-shirts, and planned a Jungle fashion show. On Friday, campers made and decorated delicious cookies! LORRAINE and EMEE kept the HORSEBACK RIDERS busy this week, as they not only spent time grooming, tacking, bathing, and riding the horses, but they also painted new signs for the stalls at the barn, and made leather crafts. EMEE's group made some scrumptious Coke Floats, while LORRAINE"S group chowed down on some Make-your-own Ice Cream Sundaes. The SPORTS & GAMES campers with ADAM, BECKY and DEAN enjoyed a plethora of games like Queen ball, Basketball, Badminton, Tetherball, Touch Rugby, 4-Square, Capture the Flag in the woods, as well as building a fort, feeding the animals in the petting zoo, and swimming!

HAVE A GREAT SCHOOL YEAR!!

TUNING INTO THE TEEN SCENE

On Monday, the Teen Scene searched high and low for all the wild creatures of Triple C Camp, and only managed to find some Flying Squirrels! Campers enjoyed visiting the Challenge Course, where they not only got to try out the Flying Squirrel, but also got to climb like bears up the Vertical Playpen and then swing like gorillas down the 500' Zip Line! Campers also enjoyed Arts & Crafts, feeding the petting zoo animals, and relaxing in the pool! Tuesday the Teen Scene went off on a safari of the local community with the first stop being Chris Greene Lake, where campers enjoyed swimming and a picnic lunch. Second stop of the day was Planet Fun, where everyone enjoyed Miniature Golf, Go Carting, and the Batting Cages. The Teen Scene made a pit stop for some yummy grub - Ice Cream Sundaes - before heading back to camp. On Wednesday morning, campers finished up their community service projects. One group, under the guidance of ERIN, visited with the residents at the Winterhaven Retirement Community, while the second group, under the watchful eye of "H" worked with the Charlottesville Parks & Rec Dept. around the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in McIntyre Park. After lunch the Teen Scene turned into penguins and slipped 'n slided around the Charlottesville Ice Park. On Thursday, the water bugs in the Teen Scene enjoyed a wet 'n wild day tubing down the James River.

We enjoyed all our adventures this summer, and we want to wish each of you a GREAT school year. We look forward to seeing everyone again next summer! DREW and ERIN
